Nutri-Score is getting stricter from January 1, 2026! What’s changing?

The Nutri-Score is back—and stricter than ever. From 2024–2025, the algorithm behind the well-known label (ranging from dark green A to red E) will be updated. Good news: consumers will get a more honest picture of what’s truly healthy. But less good news for manufacturers who thought scoring an A would be “easy.”

At KarmaKarma, we think that’s fantastic. An A should stand for quality, fiber, and thoughtful ingredients—not clever tricks.

How is the new Nutri-Score calculated?

The calculation combines positive points (fiber, protein, fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts) with negative points (calories, sugar, salt, saturated fat).

What has changed?

  • Sugar, salt, and saturated fat carry more weight → products high in these ingredients now drop more quickly to B, C, or lower.

  • Fiber and whole grains get more positive points → fiber-rich snacks and grains are finally rewarded.

  • Drinks: water remains an A, but fruit juices and soft drinks score lower than before.

  • Dairy products: milk and yogurt have been revised; not everything automatically scores an A.

In short: a Nutri-Score A is now truly a mark of quality.

What does this mean for KarmaKarma?

For us, the new Nutri-Score isn’t a threat—it’s a confirmation. Our organic & plant-based snacks are:

  • High in fiber → more positive points.

  • Low in sugar and salt → no hidden negative points.

  • Functional and thoughtfully crafted → exactly what the new calculation rewards.

A Nutri-Score A at KarmaKarma is therefore no coincidence. It’s the result of our philosophy: healthy breaks that genuinely support your wellbeing.

Conclusion

The new Nutri-Score makes the difference between marketing and true quality visible. Where an A could sometimes be misleading before, it is now a badge of honest nutrition.

And that’s exactly what KarmaKarma stands for: conscious choices, rebelliously packaged, functionally nourishing.
